The Community Support Program wheel is centered on RECOVERY, that recovery is based on HOPE, and is also comprised of competence, respect, trust, understanding, wellness, choice, and spirituality.
Recovery is embraced by the Community Support Principles that services for mental health challenges should be consumer-centered/consumer empowered, culturally competent, meet special needs, community-based/natural supports, flexible, coordinated, accountable, and strengths based.
The final component is the Community Support System and is comprised of the components which will help persons with mental health challenges to live full and meaningful lives in their communities; community groups and organizations, community mobility, income support, meaningful work, peer support, family and friends, treatment and supports, health care, housing, education, leisure and recreation, psychiatric rehabilitation, and protection and advocacy.
